1. Defective Bulb

The electric fireplace’s flame effect’s crucial part is its bulb. The bulb act as a light source in the fireplace’s inside. Due to the faulty bulb, the light source disappears, and the fireplace’s flame effect stops working.

If your Dimplex electric fireplace’s motor is working well, but there is no flame effect display, be sure that it is happening to the bulb malfunction.

The blown bulb is the leading cause of this issue. However, instead of a bulb, if you use LED in your electric fireplace and still the flame effect is not working, the reason could be something else.

Solution:

Replacing the malfunctioning or blown bulb of your Dimplex electric fireplace is the only solution to this issue. However, if the electric fire flame effect stops working, make sure that its light source or bulb works perfectly.

You can also use the LED as a fire flame effect’s light source in your Dimplex electric fireplace, and it is long-lasting compared to the bulb.

2. Loose Wiring

Another major cause for which your Dimplex electric fire flame effect stops working is loose wiring.

Loose wiring causes a loose connection between the fireplace and the flame effect’s light source. As a result, the fire flame effect can’t operate perfectly.

Constant contraction and expansion cycle, & cooling and heating cycle cause the loose wire issue. As a result, the loosened wire fails to make consistent contact with the fireplace, and it has a negative impact on the fire flame effect.

Solution:

Check whether your electric fireplace’s wiring is loose or not. If so, then tighten and fix it. Ensure that both the contraction and expansion cycle, & the heating and cooling cycle are working properly in your fireplace.

3. Flame Effect Controlling Switch Malfunction

There is a particular switch to control the fireplace’s flame effect. If the switch itself is defective, then the flame effect will stop working.

Using the faulty controlling switch, you will not be able to turn on your Dimplex electric fireplace’s flame effects. The causes behind this issue are:

  • The flame-controlling switch is not grounded properly
  • Switch working in worn-out sockets or faulty outlet
  • Older or aged switch
  • Switch’s wires lose connection

Solution:

If suddenly your Dimplex electric fire flame effect stop working, you should inspect its fire-controlling switch. If the faulty switch is the main culprit, then you can go with the following solutions:

  • Ensure that your electric fireplace’s flame control switch is properly grounded
  • Replace the lousy electrical outlet or worn-out electric sockets
  • Don’t use the switch for a longer time. Replace the aged switch
  • Check the switch wire’s loose connection and tighten it

4. Defective Motor

Motor malfunction is another cause for which the fire flame effect stops functioning.

After turning on the switch of your electric fireplace, if the fire flame light turns on, but the flame effect doesn’t move, the defective motor is the culprit. The factors accountable for it are:

  • Drawing huge electricity
  • Defective electrical connection
  • Small power loads
  • Faulty electrical outlet

Solution:

If the faulty motor is the main culprit for stopping the working of the fire flame effect, then you should follow the solutions below:

  • Ensure that your Dimplex electric fireplace’s motor is drawing enough and stable electricity, not more or less
  • Check the electrical connection and fix it
  • Repair or replace the faulty electrical outlet

5. Faulty LED Driver

The LED driver converts the input source’s AC voltage into the current source. The electric fireplace’s output voltage varies significantly when the LED driver’s forward voltage falls.

Thus if the LED driver itself is defective, it will fail to convert the AC voltage, and your fireplace’s fire flame effect will fail to work. The LED driver malfunction mainly occurs because of its faulty capacitor or defective inside components.

Solution:

Inspect your Dimplex electric fireplace’s LED driver and check its inside components, including the capacitors.

If there is any broken or lousy element within the LED driver, replace it. Also, replace the defective LED driver.

  1. I have a situation with Dimplex model XHD23L-INT, every time I turn on the flames effect, I hear a clicking sound and flames are kind of shaking on the screen.

I have a feeling that a motor spinning a bearing mechanism is touching something inside and that creates the vibration of flames and clicking.

What causes this weird sound in reality have no clue. Other than that all is working properly.

Have anyone the similar situation with the subject model?

Generally, an electric fireplace makes a clicking noise due to expanding heating coils during the turning-on process. Plus, there could be other reasons behind the issue like loose or worn out components, clogged components, dirty or defective blower fan, or damaged flame rod.

You should check all the above-mentioned issues visually one by one & fix them if you get any faults.

Well, as you hear a clicking sound & get a shaking flame effect when you turn on the flame effect, in this case, the main culprit could be the defective flame rod.
Actually, a flame rod connects to a flame motor. When this rod gets damaged, it may rub on other components. As a result, it creates a clicking noise & shaking flame effect. If you get the flame rod is damaged, you have to replace it to fix the issue.

Hopefully, your problem will be solved.

      Best of luck!

As your fireplace beeps it indicates that it’s time to replace the batteries. Actually the receiver module needs fresh batteries more frequently than the remote.

Well, as you have changed the bulbs, now check all the wiring connections & make sure they are in good condition.

      Wish you all the best!
