Are you thinking about the Lennox gas fireplace flame adjustment or worried about the Regency gas fireplace flame adjustment? Read the following steps to solve all flame issues instantly:

Step 1:

First, you have to locate the gas control knob which is responsible for how much gas your fireplace uses. You will find this knob below the ceramic logs. The knob is usually black and has a small pointer. It has the word “pilot” featured on it as well.

Step 2:

Light the gas fireplace by turning the control knob to the “pilot” setting. Firstly, rotate the knob to the left and push it in. This will allow the gas to flow into the pilot light. Ignite the pilot light by pressing the sparker or you can use a match as well.

Step 3:

Now, you have to let the flame burn for a minute. For this, you have to release the control knob and allow the flame to burn. Keep the control knob at the lowest flame setting.

Step 4:

Find the switch that is located at the front of the gas logs. It’s supposed to be marked “ON”. Move the switch to this “ON” setting to ignite the burner. Now, observe the initial flame height.

Step 5:

You have to make the adjustment in accordance with the height of the flame. Turn the knob to the right to reduce the flame height. And turn the knob to the left, if you want to increase the flame height.

Adjust the flame height to maintain the temperature you want. And this is how with 5 simple steps, you can easily adjust the flame of your gas fireplace.

Adjust Pilot Light Flame On Gas Fireplace

You can enjoy your fireplace only till the pilot light stays on. The pilot light provides heat to power the furnaces, water heaters, and fireplaces. With the help of a thermocouple, the pilot light stays on and keeps the fireplace burning.

This is why it’s important to keep the pilot light of your fireplace stable. Your pilot light should be blue all the time as you can see in the picture.

pilot light should be blue always

If it’s not, then here’s how to adjust the pilot light flame on the gas fireplace.

  • Locate the controls places at the bottom of the fireplace
  • There can be a “Lo-Hi” button as well that will allow you to adjust the height of the flame
  • If there is no such button then there will be a screw
  • Adjust this screw with a screwdriver
  • Turn the screw clockwise to reduce the flame height
  • Turning the screw counter-clockwise will increase the flame height
  • The flame will be yellow or orange if the pilot light is not right
  • Keep adjusting the flame till its blue

To be honest, getting the pilot light fixed is a hard task. However, if you maintain these steps properly, then you will be able to adjust the pilot light flame of your gas fireplace with ease.

You can also use compressed air to clean the burner properly. Plus, inspect & clean the ignitor & thermocouple for carbon build up.

Hopefully, you will get the expected result.

      Have a great day!

  2. My 23.5 inch ventless gas stove gives out a smoky smell when it is in use. I vacuumed it out and washed the logs. I dried them outside for 4 days but the problem still persists. The flame has an orange color near the tips. Is there an air/fuel mixture adjustment?

    • Hi Andrew

Maybe the air that helps in the combustion of your stove is impure. This impure air can produce a such smells that are amplified by the flame.

Well, to fix the orange flame issue, open the fuel/air mix shutter a bit.

Hopefully, your gas stove problem will be solved.

      Best of luck!

  3. Hello,
My pilot is lit though recently my burner has been going out after 15 minutes and now it won’t light at all. My draw on the thermopile is 470. Thoughts?

    • Hi Walter

As the pilot lit, to fix the burner going out issue, check the spark igniter. Clean all the dirt between the thermocouple & the igniter.
Also, you can blow compressed air into the pilot area, wait for a few minutes & then try to ignite the unit.

Hopefully, you will get the solution.

      Wish you all the best!
