  • Verify the venting system has not any blockage.
  • Properly close the hopper lid and front door also.
  • It is not a bad idea to check the feed system in this situation. First, inspect the feed and unjam its assembly.
  • If the feed motor is not plugged in, reconnect it.
  • You should not ignore the igniter also. Plug the igniter in and assemble it in the center.
  • You must have to replace the igniter if there is any defective fact.
  • Now come to the firepot. Clean it first and then set it in the correct position.

Sometimes you can notice that your Pelpro pellet stove keeps shutting off constantly. Dirty appliances and clogged surfaces are the main causes of this problem.

4. Fire Starts But Goes Out

The first reason behind this problem is dirty firepot. Also, blocked exhaust paths or venting occur this problem. You will find the exhaust probe in the unit.

The fire automatically won’t stay when the probe is damaged or not plugged in. Another major reason is the exhaust sensor can’t read the temperature. Now fix this issue by following the below steps:

Solution:

  • First, clean out the firepot properly.
  • Alongside, inspect the exhaust path and venting. Unblocked it if there is any blockage. Don’t miss cleaning the firebox with baffles in this case.
  • It would be best to clean the right wall of the exhaust outlet.
  • Now it’s time to check the exhaust probe if it is probably connected to the outlet. For this, you have to remove the right-side panel and again reattached it after checking.
  • If there is any severe defect in the probe, it’s better to replace it.

5. Convection & Exhaust Blower Fails to Start

The possible reasons for the blower not working are a jammed blower, blower not plugged in, dirty exhaust probe, incorrect temperature reading, and defective control box.

No worries. By following the below DIY fixing procedures, the problem can be solved:

Solution:

  • First, inspect the blower and clean it out properly.
  • Then plug it in. If the problem is not solved, you have to replace the complete blowers.
  • Also, try to clean the exhaust probe. Concentrate on the right side of it. If there is also any defect, you have to replace it as well.
  • And if there are any problems with the control board, replace it.

6. Slow and Smoky Start-up

Sometimes, it seems that it starts too slow with a smoky appearance when you start the unit. The fact is server needs some direct action to fix it. But let’s know the reasons before.

The problem occurs if the exhaust or vent system is clogged with dirt. Incorrect assembling of the igniter and the low-quality fuel is also responsible for causing this problem. Now, look through the below solution procedures:

Solution:

  • Check the exhaust blower and venting, including the firebox. Clean all these compartments if there are blocked specks of dirt.
  • Now assemble the igniter in the center position.
  • In the case of wet fuel or poor-quality fuel, you have to replace it.

Large, lazy, and orange flames can be seen if the appliance is dirty.  High ash content and poor-quality fuel are also responsible for this.

Also, the locked feed motor leads to the issue. Incorrect air-fuel adjustment is also a possible reason for this.

Solution:

  • First, properly clean the complete appliances, including the exhaust path, venting system, and firepot.
  • To solve the motor turn-off, follow corrective action. It’s better to contact a manufacturer in this case,
  • If the problem is in the air-fuel adjustment, you have to follow trim pot adjustment methods. See the keeps shutting off section. we have already described this method.
  • In contrast, rotate the dial clockwise if the fire is too small. Leave it also for some while before making any adjustments.

  1. I just started up my TSC-90 and it has a strange sound, it sounds like a something is stuck or loose not sure which. I think it is the motor that runs the auger but not sure. Have you heard of something like this before? I can hear it upstairs at night, I turned it off just in case something is loose. Can you help me?

    • Hi Mark

Your pellet stove may be making strange sounds due to a dirty or clogged system, faulty airflow, an unlevel machine, or loose mechanics.

To solve the sound issue, first, tighten everything up. Clean the stove completely including the heat exchanger rod and replace it if needed. Plus, make sure the feet of the machine are level. For a quick fix, you can also use some gasket tape.

Hope you will get the solution.

      Thanks

    • Hi Lydia

Generally, a pellet stove won’t ignite because of no power supply, low air adjustment, bad pellets, and faulty fuel feeding. Also, defective igniters and burn pots won’t let the stove ignite. As your pellet stove is a new one and you are not using it for a few days, here your pellets might get wet and the ignitor gets rusty. So, first, try replacing the high-quality pellets or drying the existing pellets fully, and cleaning the ignitor. Also, ensure the airflow. Hope you will get the solution.

      Thanks.

  2. I have a pp70 stove. It is blowing smoke out the area where the heat blows out when I start it up. It started doing this after we checked the end of the pipe to clean it out. I cleaned the whole stove and still leaves a nasty smoke smell when it comes on. What can I do to fix this. I took off all of the back panels and vacuumed everything. my setting is on -2 and I usually run my pellet stove on 3. Any suggestions? I just bought it in July of this year and installed in Oct. I also turned it on full blast like it said to let stuff burn off in the stove.

    • Hi Patricia

To fix the issue, as you have cleaned your stove, now ensure the chimney of your pellet stove is active for a proper flow of smoke.

Also, make sure the vents are leakage free & they are installed properly.

Hopefully, your problem will be solved.

      Best of luck!

  3. Pelpro pp60 has shut off overnight 3 nights in a row. It runs good all day and shuts off in the night. Red light flashing once which should mean no pellets but there are plenty of pellets in the hopper. I restart it and it runs fine. I’ve thoroughly cleaned it including the hopper. Good flame and air flow. Any ideas?

    • Hi Jim

To fix your pellet stove issue, first, clean all the vents, and repair or replace all gaskets. Plus, adjust the air-to-pellet ratio by decreasing the feeding rate or increasing the airflow, or vice-versa.

Also, adjust the airflow or damper.

Hopefully, you will get the solution.

      Best of luck!

  5. Just received PelPro PP130 for Christmas. Set it up in the garage, got it running, set it to 1 and the stove won’t kick off, just keeps calling for pellets and continues to run. We have an external thermometer to see the temp around the stove, placed near the stove and it read 89 and still the stove didn’t kick off. What do we do?

  6. The problem I’m having with our new PelletPro PP130 is in comfort setting mode on the dial control it keeps running and overheats the room (at least 80 degrees!) at a “1” setting on the dial. I’ve noticed the temperature sensor sticking out the back of the unit has more wire couled inside to extend the sensor away from the unit. I think maybe the sensor needs to be away from the back to sense room temp better. The installation instructions make no mention of sensor placement.
