Castle Serenity Pellet Stove Auger Not Turning [5 Easy Fix]

Here are the five reasons and solutions for your castle serenity pellet stove auger not turning issue. Let’s begin.

1. Unsealed Main Door/Ashpan

There is a general rule for every pellet stove. That is, a pellet stove won’t turn on while its main door/ashpan is open. Doing so would put you at risk, so it’s better not even try to use the stove at that time. The auger will not turn and you will not be able to use the stove with an unsealed main door/ashpan.

Solution:

Turn the stove off and unplug it. Then check the main door and seal it. Look at the viewing glass for openings and close them as well. Don’t forget the ashpan.

2. Obstructed Auger

The auger itself could be obstructed under the feed. When this happens, you know that your auger is not going to work.

Solution:

Remove the auger from the stove and clean the auger. From the diagnostic area, choose the circle beside “feeding”. Now, wait for the auger to be cycled.

3. Open the Vacuum Switch

An auger will not turn on with an open vacuum switch. Although this reason is not common for every pellet stove, you should check whether it is for you or not.

Solution:

There should be a hook that leads to the vacuum switch. Unhook that and suck it a little until you hear a “click” sound. The auger should start working afterward.

4. Uncleaned Stove

Most of the issues in a pellet stove happen because of dirt. If your stove is uncleaned, you can be assured that the auger won’t work.

Solution:

Looking for a solution? Go ahead and clean your stove before turning it on.

Here, you can also watch this video on how to clean your pellet stove properly.

5. Hopper Lid Issues

The hopper lid could have two issues that might turn the auger off. Firstly, the hopper lid could be opened. Secondly, the switch of the hopper lid might not be functioning properly.

Solution:

First of all, close the hopper door. Open the diagnostic area, and check the circle next to “limit”. It should be highlighted if the hopper lid is closed properly. In case the switch of the hopper lid is not working properly, replace it.

Well, if the above-mentioned method doesn’t work to solve the issue, you may need to replace the auger motor. To do the replacement correctly, you can check out this video on auger motor replacement.

Usually, a pellet stove turns off due to one or more reasons like a dirty unit, or poor air adjustment that produces insufficient heat to trip the sensors. Plus, faulty stove wiring, a defective combustion blower, and the pellets not feeding the auger correctly could be the culprit behind the issue.

Well, as you have cleaned the stove & checked the fuse, now check all the issues mentioned above & fix whatever you get faulty following our instructions in the pellet stove keeps shutting off.

Hopefully, your problem will be solved.

      Wish you all the best.
