Method 1: Turning on Instructions (IPI):

You can operate the fireplace with the IPI system using two D-cell batteries. If you want to prolong the battery life, remove the batteries when using the transformer. Follow the below steps to turn on your Heat N Glo Fireplace with the IPI system. 

  • This fireplace comes with an ignition device to light the burner automatically. So, don’t try to light the burner by hand. 
  • Wait at least 5 minutes to clear out any gas. If you smell gas, don’t show dare to light up the fireplace. 
  •  Light up the burner by following these steps:
  • Turn the on/off switch to the On position if the fireplace comes with a wall switch system.
  • If the appliance comes with the remote control or the wall control, press the On or Flame buttons. 
  • Set the thermostat to your desired temp level if the fireplace is equipped with a thermostat.
  • Call your service guy if you fail to turn on your fireplace after three tries. 

Method 2: Turning on Instructions (Standing Pilot):

  • Turn the gas control knob clockwise to set the knob to the Off position.

  • Locate the pilot. You can find it inside the combustion chamber next to the main burner. 
  • Turn the gas control knob counterclockwise to set it to the Pilot position. 
  • Push and hold the control knob all the way. At the same time, depress the red or black piezo button. You may need to repeat the depressions of the piezo button several times to light the Pilot. 
  • Put back the fixed assembly glass and the decorative front.
  • Turn the gas control knob counterclockwise to set it to the On position.
  • Turn on all the electric power to your fireplace. 
  • Now, turn the on/off switch to the On position to light the burner. 

Method 3: How To Start A Heat And Glo Fireplace Without Electricity

Some Heat N Glo fireplaces come with  IntelliFire or IntelliFire Plus ignition systems. These fireplaces have a battery backup system to light and operate the fireplace without electricity. 

Generally, a fireplace with an IntelliFire system needs two D-cell batteries. If you have a wall switch with a display, locate the control box in the lower controls of your fireplace. 

Now, you can find a switch that can be slid between on, off, and remote. Slide the switch to the On position to start your Heat N Glo fireplace without electricity.
